Federal Express Corporation (FedEx) has announced enhancements to its inbound shipping service, aimed at benefiting importers and businesses in Johor. The company is now delivering packages two hours earlier for shipments arriving from Asia, Europe, and the U.S.

Previously, shipments destined for Johor were routed through Kuala Lumpur before traveling 300 kilometers to Senai for processing and delivery. The new routing takes these shipments directly to the FedEx Gateway in Singapore before proceeding to the FedEx Senai Gateway. This change offers direct clearance at Senai customs, which is expected to be advantageous for industries such as manufacturing, retail, and e-commerce that rely on timely imports.

Tien Long Woon, managing director of FedEx Malaysia, stated: “Improving the speed of our services is essential for businesses looking to thrive in today’s competitive environment. We understand that time is of the essence, and with faster delivery of imports, we are enhancing the efficiency of local businesses in Johor and improving their flexibility to better serve their own customers.”

The Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) is set to improve economic connectivity between Johor and Singapore by focusing on sectors like electronics, medical equipment, food manufacturing, and data centers. In 2023, Johor's economy grew by 4.1% year-over-year in GDP terms—exceeding Malaysia's national average growth rate of 3.6%. Services and manufacturing were significant contributors to this growth. Furthermore, Johor accounted for around 29% of Malaysia's total trade in 2023.

FedEx remains committed to supporting local business success and contributing to regional economic development as Johor continues its growth trajectory as a key economic hub.
