Spanish airline Iberia is preparing for a busy summer in 2025, with plans to increase its seat availability by 14% on flights to the United States. The airline will also expand its operations in Latin America, aiming for the highest level of connectivity this summer.

Iberia will operate up to 140 weekly flights between Spain and the US, offering 1.1 million seats, marking a significant increase from the previous year. "The United States remains a strategic market for Iberia and several other European carriers," the airline stated.

The airline serves eight destinations in the US, making it the country with the largest number of destinations in Iberia's network. The schedule includes Boston and Washington, which will see increased frequencies this summer. Boston will have two daily flights instead of one, while Washington will shift from four weekly flights to daily service. Both routes will utilize the new Airbus A321XLR aircraft.

The A321XLR flights to Washington are set to resume in mid-April after initial scheduling changes. Iberia currently has one XLR aircraft but plans to add seven more, enhancing its long-haul capabilities.

In addition to expanding US routes, Iberia is increasing its presence in Latin America. The airline will offer up to 3.2 million seats between Spain and Latin America, representing a 4% increase compared to last year. Over 300 weekly flights will connect Spain with 18 airports across 16 countries in Latin America, Central America, and the Caribbean.

Buenos Aires and São Paulo are among the cities that will see increased service with three additional weekly flights each. Lima will also gain an extra frequency starting May 2025.

Iberia's proposal for other Latin American destinations remains consistent with last year's offerings, including thrice-daily flights to Mexico City and Bogotá and daily services to Montevideo and Quito.

In Central America and the Caribbean, flight frequencies remain unchanged from 2024 levels. The airline continues daily services to Puerto Rico, Santa Domingo, Costa Rica, Guatemala, and San Salvador.

Across Europe, Iberia plans seasonal resumptions but maintains focus on key markets like France and Italy without changing short- and medium-haul seat availability from summer 2024 levels.
