Enrique Can, Corporate Ramp and General Safety Manager of Flying Food Group | LinkedIn.com

Enrique Can, the Corporate Ramp and General Safety Manager at Flying Food Group (FFG), said that the company ensures compliance with airline and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations by analyzing incidents and implementing company-wide safety improvements. He made this statement during an FFG interview on February 5.

"We analyze the root causes of incidents and implement changes accordingly," said Can. "We strive to maintain consistency across the entire company."

Can emphasized that proactive safety management at FFG includes bi-weekly safety calls, a year-end Ramp Safety Stop Campaign, and multilingual communication in English, Spanish, and Chinese to ensure clear safety protocols across operations. New employees undergo a mandatory safety orientation, and ramp workers are required to complete a 16-hour emergency preparedness course in accordance with Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) regulations.

According to Friedman Rubin, ramp work is one of the most hazardous jobs, with an injury rate of 14 in 100 workers—much higher than in many other industries. Ninety-two percent of ramp accidents result from human error, including failure to follow procedures, inadequate training, and airfield congestion. Common causes of injuries and fatalities include propeller strikes, tugs, surface vehicles, defective equipment, and negligence.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Can is an experienced transportation manager in the food production industry. He is skilled in budgeting, operations management, safety monitoring, and process improvement. He is proficient in Microsoft Excel and holds a Business Administration degree from the University of Phoenix.
