Sydney's new 24-hour airport has partnered with dnata Catering & Retail, Australia's leading inflight caterer, to provide innovative catering services for both domestic and international airlines. The company is investing $17 million in a state-of-the-art inflight catering center at the Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport Cargo Precinct. This facility will have the capacity to produce three million meals annually.

Mark Stubbings, Chief Commercial Officer of dnata Catering & Retail Australia, emphasized the company's commitment to the Australian aviation industry through this investment. "Our highly trained team, advanced facility and equipment will deliver world-class services and products, helping WSI establish itself as a leading international aviation hub," he stated. He also mentioned that dnata's operations would create job opportunities, with recruitment starting in 2026 for various roles such as chefs and drivers.

WSI CEO Simon Hickey highlighted dnata's investment as a significant step in the airport's development. "dnata is investing in WSI and investing in the future growth and opportunities this airport will offer top-tier airlines when we open next year," he said. Hickey noted that being located within the on-airport Cargo Precinct provides operational efficiencies for dnata and airlines.

The new 3,200 m² facility will incorporate technologies aimed at reducing its environmental impact, including energy-efficient equipment and a recycled water system. The agreement allows dnata to expand up to 6,400 m² as demand increases. Construction of the facility is underway and expected to be completed by late 2026.
