Alaska Airlines Embraer E175 | Simple Flying

Alaska Airlines is set to launch a new route from Los Angeles to Monterrey, Mexico, on February 13. This service will become the airline's eighth-longest route using the Embraer E175 aircraft. The introduction of this route marks Alaska Airlines' only new service among 13 routes starting this week. The remaining routes are resuming after being inactive since early January or last year.

Alaska Airlines operates 86 Embraer E175s, with 44 managed by Horizon Air and 42 by SkyWest. Each aircraft has a seating capacity of 76 passengers, divided into first class, premium class, and main cabin sections. The average flight distance for these planes in 2025 is expected to be around 400 nautical miles (741 km), which is the lowest average recorded so far.

The airline's E175s are scheduled to fly to 72 airports this year, primarily within the United States. California leads with 16 airports served by Alaska Airlines' E175 flights, followed by Washington and Alaska. Seattle accounts for 35% of these flights, while Portland follows with 24%. Overall, the E175s make up about 40% of Alaska Airlines' total services.

The longest current route for Alaska Airlines' E175 fleet is from Portland to Fairbanks. This service represents a return for the airline after an absence of over a decade when it previously used Boeing 737 aircraft on the same route.

Alaska Airlines' entry into the Los Angeles-Monterrey market restores competition among three airlines following Aeromexico's withdrawal in January last year. Delta Air Lines had exited this market back in 2017.
