Colombian airline Avianca has announced a new direct flight route connecting Dallas and Bogotá, set to commence on May 26. The service will operate four times weekly between Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and Bogotá El Dorado International Airport (BOG), utilizing the Airbus A320 aircraft with 180 seats.

Rolando Damas, Avianca's sales director for North America, Central America, the Caribbean, and Europe, stated that this new route is part of the airline's efforts to enhance connectivity across the Americas. "We are excited to give travelers a new way to reach Bogotá from Dallas," he said.

According to data from Cirium’s Diio Mi airline planning tool, American Airlines will be Avianca's only competitor on this route in June. American Airlines plans to use its Boeing 737 MAX 8 for daily flights between Dallas and Bogotá.

In addition to the Dallas-Bogotá route, Avianca also announced a seasonal connection starting June 3 between Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD) and El Salvador International Airport (SAL). This route will operate three times per week with an A320 aircraft. Damas highlighted San Salvador as a vibrant destination rich in culture and history.

Avianca has been expanding its presence in the United States. In late December 2024, it announced five new routes between Latin America and Florida, pending governmental approval. By June, Avianca plans to operate 404 weekly departures from Latin America to the U.S., covering 43 routes including flights to Puerto Rico.

The busiest route in Avianca’s U.S. network is expected to be between Bogotá and Miami with 28 weekly one-way flights.
