Delta Airbus A330-900s | Airbus Website

The Airbus A330-900, also known as the A330neo, is the latest model in Airbus's successful A330 series. Introduced at the Farnborough Airshow in July 2014, this aircraft offers a 14% improvement in fuel efficiency per seat over its predecessor due to its new engines and sharklets.

TAP Air Portugal was the first airline to operate the A330-900 commercially, starting in December 2018. The airline has received 19 of these aircraft for use on transatlantic routes. However, Delta Air Lines currently holds the title for the largest fleet of A330-900s with 32 planes and an additional seven on order.

The A330-900 competes with Boeing's 787 and has been a commercial success for Airbus. As of February 2025, Airbus has delivered 148 units globally and holds orders for another 228.

Cebu Pacific operates its fleet of A330-900s in an all-economy configuration with 459 seats, utilizing them on long-haul and regional routes from Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport to destinations like Dubai and Sydney.

Virgin Atlantic added its first A330-900 in October 2022 as part of its fleet renewal strategy. The aircraft features a three-class layout accommodating up to 262 passengers and includes "The Loft," a social space replacing the bar found on their Boeing 787-9s. Corneel Koster from Virgin Atlantic emphasized their commitment to customer experience by stating, "We care about every detail of the cabin design and every step of our customer’s journey."

Starlux Airlines' A330-900s offer business class suites in a unique configuration suitable for regional flights. Starlux Founder K.W. Chang expressed optimism about integrating these aircraft into their network strategy: “I am delighted to welcome our first A330neo... we are confident that the A330neo will bring even more flexibility and efficiency.”

Looking ahead, several airlines have placed significant orders for more A330-900s including Cathay Pacific (30), Vietjet Air (20), Virgin Atlantic (16), among others.

Delta Air Lines received its first Airbus A330-900 in July 2019. This model plays a crucial role in their long-haul operations across transatlantic and transpacific routes. Delta's configuration includes Delta One suites offering lie-flat beds with memory foam cushioning; Premium Select provides wider recliner seats; Main Cabin features standard economy seating along with Comfort+ options offering increased pitch.

Delta recently unveiled a new cabin design enhancing passenger experiences across all classes on these aircraft, initially introduced on flights between Atlanta and Buenos Aires.
