Delta Air Lines has introduced a new design for its Airbus A350 aircraft, focusing on enhancing the passenger experience. The airline plans to implement these changes across its fleet over the coming years, with retrofitted planes set to operate on long-haul international routes.

Mauricio Parise, Delta's Vice President of Customer Experience Design, stated: "Delta has a 100-year history of creating a customer experience that feels welcoming and thoughtful with intentional design elements woven into every aspect of a customer’s travel."

The redesigned cabin includes memory foam cushions and custom lighting aimed at relaxing passengers. These updates result from extensive customer feedback and research to meet traveler needs and expectations.

The cabin's atmosphere is designed to be calm and cohesive, helping passengers adjust to new time zones. Feature lighting will simulate sunset and sunrise according to flight duration and arrival time. Delta has incorporated its brand colors into the warm color palette, using natural elements to reflect its history.

Lavatories feature bright walls and celestial sky patterns, with flooring made from wood colors and non-slip materials. The overall design aims to mirror customers' lifestyles.

Michael Steinfield, Delta's Manager of Onboard Products, noted improvements in durability for carpets and flooring: "Textured flooring has also been debuted in galleys to ensure safe and stable passages for cabins and crew."

Passengers can expect enhanced comfort with memory foam seats tested rigorously by staff. Premium class seat coverings have been upgraded for better comfort and breathability. New features include wireless charging in Delta One cabins alongside traditional USB outlets.

For improved onboard entertainment, Delta has added an accessibility mode for route maps with larger fonts designed for low-vision passengers. Parise commented: "As we embark on our next century of flying, this refreshed cabin interior infuses utility with beauty to create an atmosphere that feels fresh, elevated, and timeless while reflecting our customers’ evolving tastes and expectations."

Flight attendants will benefit from new crew bunks featuring foam mattresses for better rest during long-haul flights. All newly delivered Airbus A350s will have the updated designs.

Delta plans a less-dense layout for upcoming deliveries, reducing capacity from 306 to 275 seats while increasing premium seating options like Delta One from 32 to 40 seats.

As part of the SkyTeam alliance, Delta operates nearly 1,000 aircraft across several major U.S. hubs including Atlanta (ATL), Boston (BOS), Detroit (DTW), Los Angeles (LAX), Minneapolis/St. Paul (MSP), New York John F. Kennedy (JFK), New York–LaGuardia (LGA), Salt Lake City (SLC), Seattle/Tacoma (SEA). It also maintains focus cities in Austin (AUS) and Raleigh/Durham (RDU).

Delta holds stakes in various global airlines such as Aeroméxico, Air France–KLM, China Eastern Airlines, LATAM Airlines Group S.A., Virgin Atlantic Airways Limited among others.
