American Airlines has announced changes to its flight schedule from New York LaGuardia Airport (LGA) in 2025. The airline will introduce new flights to Charleston International Airport (CHS) in South Carolina, starting June 6. These flights will be operated by Republic Airlines for American Eagle using Embraer E170 and E175 aircraft.

According to Cirium, an aviation analytics company, the schedule includes a one-way flight from New York LaGuardia to Charleston on Friday and a return service on Saturday. There will also be a one-way flight from Charleston to New York LaGuardia on Sunday.

Delta Air Lines, which operates over 250 return flights between these airports in June, will provide competition for American Airlines on this route. Delta uses various aircraft including the Embraer E170 and E175 of Republic Airline, Bombardier CRJ900 of Endeavor Air, and Airbus A220.

In contrast, American Airlines plans to discontinue its service between New York LaGuardia and Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) starting June 4. Currently, nearly daily flights are operated by Republic Airlines' Embraer aircraft on this route.

JetBlue has also announced a reduction in services from LaGuardia Airport with plans to end its Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) flight on April 9.

American Airlines maintains an extensive network out of LaGuardia with over 3,500 flights in February alone. In addition to the new Charleston route, three more routes are planned for summer 2025: Bozeman, Montana (BZN), Calgary, Alberta (YYC), and Kalispell, Montana (FCA).

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey estimates that all major airports serving the New York City area will accommodate approximately 150 million passengers in 2025. This follows an increase from 144.1 million travelers in 2023.

LaGuardia Airport has undergone significant improvements recently with an $8 billion modernization investment enhancing facilities like Terminal B and upgrading runways and taxiways.
