Disney World is set to make changes to its ride access system for two popular attractions. Starting February 25, the virtual queue system will be removed from Tiana's Bayou Adventure and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. Guests will now have the option to wait in a traditional standby line or purchase a Lightning Lane pass for these rides.

The virtual queue system has been used as an alternative to standard lines, particularly when a ride first opens. It allows guests to secure a spot through the My Disney Experience app at specific times each day. Those who succeed receive a return time, while others may need to purchase a Lightning Lane pass or try again later.

Disney announced that removing the virtual queue will allow guests more flexibility in how they experience these attractions. "Depending on how you prefer to do Disney, this could be a good thing or a bad thing," noted one observer. Some visitors appreciate the structure of virtual queues, while others prefer the spontaneity of deciding based on posted wait times.

Despite personal preferences, virtual queues don't always eliminate waiting entirely. "Even when I've received a virtual queue spot, I've sometimes still waited nearly an hour," shared another guest regarding their experience with Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.

With this change, no rides at Disney World will use a virtual queue system, simplifying vacation planning for many visitors. However, both attractions remain popular, and it is uncertain how long wait times might be.

For those seeking convenience, purchasing Lightning Lane passes remains an option. Guests staying at select Disney Resort hotels can buy these passes up to seven days before their visit and begin selecting rides early in the morning for their entire stay.

This update marks another shift in how guests can plan their visits and enjoy Disney World's offerings.
