Federal Express Corporation has introduced a new digital tool in Thailand, aimed at simplifying the import process for customers. The Collaborative Shipping Tool is designed to enhance collaboration between Thai importers and their overseas shippers during the creation of Air Waybills (AWB), thereby improving efficiency in global goods movement.

Thailand's role as a significant shipping hub in Southeast Asia was underscored by a record growth in cross-border trade of over 6% in 2024. However, challenges such as failed pickups and lack of shipment visibility continue to affect importers globally, with inaccurate customs paperwork posing specific hurdles for Thai businesses. These issues often lead to delays and increased costs, impacting business operations.

The new tool allows importers to share the AWB creation process directly with shippers, facilitating confirmation of shipment details and scheduling pickups according to readiness. This collaborative feature aims to improve the success rate of shipment pickups and ensure greater efficiency.

Salil Chari, senior vice president of Marketing and Customer Experience at FedEx Asia Pacific, stated: “As global supply chains grow increasingly complex, businesses must adopt smarter logistics solutions to remain competitive.” He emphasized that FedEx is leveraging digital innovation to help customers navigate the changing marketplace by fostering seamless collaboration between importers and shippers.

Sasathorn Phaspinyo, managing director of FedEx Thailand, noted: “At FedEx, we are committed to empowering Thai businesses with the tools they need to thrive on the global stage.” She highlighted that smart solutions like the Collaborative Shipping Tool streamline supply chains and allow customers to focus resources on business growth.

Key benefits of this tool include seamless collaboration allowing for improved data accuracy and pickup success rates; enhanced visibility providing real-time insights into shipments; and an intuitive user experience making imports easier for both parties involved.

The Collaborative Shipping Tool is available for all FedEx import customers across various regions including Asia Pacific, Europe, North America, Middle East, Indian Subcontinent, and Africa. It complements other digital solutions offered by FedEx such as the Import Tool set to launch later this year in Thailand. Together these innovations reinforce FedEx's commitment to enhancing customer experiences and logistics efficiency.
