Lufthansa is set to enhance its Business Class travel experience on short and medium-haul flights with a new meal service starting February 26. This updated catering concept will provide passengers with an expanded selection of hot and cold dishes, featuring starters, main courses, and desserts that blend local cuisine with European influences. The meals are crafted using high-quality ingredients sourced from across Europe, thanks to a collaboration between celebrity chef Johann Lafer, Lufthansa's culinary teams, and catering partner Gate Gourmet.

Passengers on routes lasting around two hours will have access to a broader range of vegetarian and non-vegetarian cold dishes. For flights extending three hours or more, travelers can choose from three hot dish options instead of the previous two.

Lufthansa introduces "Pre-Select," allowing passengers to pre-order their meals from home at no additional cost. This feature is available for flights longer than two hours, offering up to nine hot dish options. Pre-ordering supports efficient planning and reduces food waste by minimizing overstocking.

Caroline Drischel, Senior Vice President Customer Journey Lufthansa Group, stated: "The introduction of ‘Pre-Select’ on Lufthansa's short and medium-haul routes underlines our ongoing efforts to offer our guests a consistently high-quality and uniform travel experience." She added that this option is already available on SWISS flights and will soon be implemented for Austrian Airlines as well.

Heiko Reitz, Chief Customer Officer Lufthansa Airlines, emphasized the focus on sustainability: "When developing the meals, we attached great importance to regional origin and sustainability. We made a conscious decision to use local and selected European products. Lufthansa guests can look forward to a new treat for the palate."
