New England Patriots Boeing 767-300ER | Official Website

The New England Patriots, a prominent name in sports, are not only known for their achievements on the field but also for their unique approach to air travel. The team stands out by owning two Boeing 767-300 jets, making them one of the few NFL teams with private aircraft. This initiative was led by owner Robert Kraft and is noted for providing flexibility and comfort during the demanding NFL season.

According to One Mile At A Time, these aircraft were acquired in December 2017 from a Boston-based holding company. They were initially delivered to American Airlines in 1991 before being repurposed for the Patriots with an all-first-class seating arrangement to accommodate the needs of players and staff. Each jet is powered by General Electric CF6 engines.

When not transporting the team, these planes are leased to other entities like Eastern Airlines and Omni Air International. NBC News reported that they were used by the Los Angeles Dodgers after their World Series victory last year and have been part of international humanitarian missions.

The decision to purchase these jets offers several benefits. It allows control over travel schedules during the NFL season, ensuring optimal player rest and preparation time. Financially, it can be more cost-effective than chartering flights regularly while generating additional revenue when leased out.

The Boeing 767-300ER models owned by the Patriots are notable for their range and payload capabilities. With a fuselage length of 180 feet and wingspan exceeding 150 feet, they provide ample space required by larger athletes.

Operating primarily out of T.F. Green International Airport in Rhode Island rather than Boston Logan Airport provides logistical advantages such as reduced congestion, lower operational costs, and proximity to Gillette Stadium. This choice minimizes travel disruptions for team members.

Overall, owning these aircraft has become integral to maintaining efficiency in transportation while supporting team morale through enhanced travel experiences.
