The American Express Gold Card is currently offering a welcome bonus of 60,000 Membership Rewards points for new applicants. To qualify, cardholders must spend $6,000 on eligible purchases within the first six months of membership. This offer aligns with the standard welcome package valued at up to $1,200 based on The Points Guy's February 2025 valuations.

A notable feature of the Amex Gold Card is its rewards structure tailored towards dining and grocery spending. Cardholders earn four points per dollar spent at restaurants and U.S. supermarkets up to specified limits annually. Additionally, it offers three points per dollar on flights booked directly through airlines or amextravel.com, two points per dollar on prepaid hotels booked through amextravel.com, and one point per dollar on other eligible purchases.

Membership Rewards points can be transferred to 18 airline partners and three hotel partners, including programs like Air Canada Aeroplan and Air France-KLM Flying Blue. These partnerships provide opportunities for cardholders to redeem their points for travel experiences such as business-class tickets or resort stays.

The card also includes several statement credits aimed at offsetting its $325 annual fee. Benefits include monthly dining credits at select merchants like Five Guys and Grubhub, Uber Cash benefits for rides or Uber Eats in the U.S., Resy dining credits bi-annually, and Dunkin' credits for use at U.S. locations.

American Express encourages potential applicants to explore higher targeted bonuses using tools like CardMatch before applying since offers may change over time.
