In the past week, several airlines have launched or resumed routes, adding new options for travelers.
Avelo Airlines has begun scheduled flights to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. As of February 21, Avelo operates twice-weekly 737-800 flights from Hartford, marking the first service on this route since USA3000 ceased operations in 2007. The following day saw the commencement of a twice-weekly 737-700 service from Raleigh/Durham to Punta Cana. This route was last served by Frontier in 2019.
On February 21, Solomon Airlines entered the Trans-Tasman market between Auckland and Brisbane as a fifth-freedom operator. The carrier now offers weekly flights using A320ceos. Flights depart Auckland early Friday morning and arrive in Brisbane an hour later local time. The aircraft then continues its journey before returning to Auckland late at night.
