Air France frequent fliers will be in for a surprise this summer, as the airline is set to cut flights on its Paris CDG to Boston and Atlanta routes.

According to aeroroutes.com, the French flag carrier is set to cut service on its Paris Charles De Gaulle to Boston and Atlanta flights during the summer 2025 season.

Air France will begin to cut their Paris CDG to Atlanta flights as early as March 31, when the carrier is set to reduce the number of flights to the American city by three, down from 21 weekly flights at the beginning of 2025. The airline will further reduce the number of weekly flights by one to 17 between May 6 and June 1, as well as between July 1 and August 31.

Over the summer, Air France is scheduled to operate its Boeing 777-200ER and - 300ER aircraft to Atlanta despite reduced frequencies because of their higher capacity compared to other long-haul aircraft such as the Boeing 787-9.

From June 2 to August 30, Air France is set to cut service on their Paris CDG to Boston route by three weekly flights. Currently, the carrier employs its Airbus A350-900 aircraft on this route, with each flight having a capacity of around 292 passengers depending on configuration. This means that in any given week, Air France offers around \[current capacity\] seats. After June's schedule change, this figure will be reduced.

This move comes despite traditionally seeing summer as a profitable time for airlines operating transatlantic routes due to increased tourist travel between Europe and North America.

A plausible reason for these schedule cuts could be related to Air France's partnership with Delta Air Lines. Both airlines are members of the SkyTeam alliance; since Delta has its main hub in Atlanta, Air France may be aiming at routing prospective passengers through Delta flights before connecting them onto European destinations via Paris CDG.

If true, this practice aligns with common industry strategies where allied carriers share codes on certain routes. For instance, when booking trips with United Airlines you might find both legs operated by Lufthansa but bearing UA flight numbers—a similar concept within different alliances.

Routing passengers through Delta frees up Air France's long-haul aircraft for other routes not served by SkyTeam partners. The same applies for Boston—a smaller hub for Delta which operates multiple transatlantic flights including those bound for Paris CDG using Airbus A330-900neo and Boeing \[other aircraft\] types.

While there are reductions in some services., it doesn't indicate an overall decline at Air-France-KLM Group.. Recently they've increased service frequency on certain North American routes like Phoenix., announced new services Orlando- bound starting late last year November/December period alongside plans adding five weekly Denver-bound departures later coming months following anticipated- strong demand projections
