Hughes, a provider of broadband satellite services, has announced that Delta Air Lines selected its connectivity solution for select new Airbus A321neo and A350-1000 aircraft.

In a statement on March 6, Hughes, a subsidiary of EchoStar, said that Delta Air Lines chose its Hughes Fusion Simultaneous Multi-Orbit In-Flight Connectivity Solution to be used on select, newly-delivered A350-1000 and A321neo aircraft.

The newly-delivered A350-1000 and A321neos will join over 400 Delta Air Lines Embraer E-jets, Mitsubishi (née Bombardier) CRJ, and Boeing 717 aircraft utilizing Hughes' service.

Delta Air Lines and Hughes announced that the former's connectivity solution would power more than 400 regional and 717 aircraft in November 2023.

"This innovative industry-first solution was developed for commercial aviation to simultaneously blend LEO [Low Earth Orbit] and GEO [Geostationary Earth Orbit] satellite capacity to set a new standard for the in-flight connectivity experience," said Reza Rasoulian, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Hughes Aviation.

Hughes noted that the solution will be introduced on Delta Air Lines’ 717s sometime in H2 2025, providing the airline with flexibility to deliver an elevated passenger experience.

Reza Rasoulian emphasized that the Hughes Fusion Simultaneous Multi-Orbit In- Flight Connectivity Solution is a first-of-its-kind innovation in commercial aviation. "This 'no compromise' solution simultaneously utilizes capacity from different orbits and bands to provide passengers the highest and best level of connectivity globally. "

As a result, Delta Air Lines would benefit from better performance by using two satellite networks simultaneously. "After extensive system analysis, lab evaluation, and in-flight testing, Delta partnered with Hughes to support Delta's next-generation in-flight entertainment experience," said Glenn Latta, Managing Director of In-flight Entertainment and Connectivity at Delta Air Lines.

Latta added that this partnership enables them to usher in a new era of connectivity. "Our partnership with Hughes to design, test, and refine this next-generation connectivity solution gives us critical insight into how the next-generation experience will be unlocked in the years ahead. "

Since the new connectivity service will be installed on some newly delivered A321neo and A350-100 aircraft soonest possible after delivery; it could cover up to an estimated total number including post-2027 deliveries being around up till about one hundred six planes altogether according to their SEC filing for full-year report ending December thirty-first two thousand twenty-four which outlines plans taking delivery eighty units between years twenty-twenty-five - twenty-seven plus additional six beyond latter date range while remaining nine last batch consisting five coming during first half followed by four second- half scheduled across span covering both consecutive calendar periods starting immediately thereafter continuing through until completion expected sometime, later still yet undisclosed but anticipated falling within timeframe ending no later than early part closing decade possibly even slightly beyond depending final arrangements made accordingly as necessary ensure timely fulfillment contractual obligations undertaken respect orders placed previously back January same year initial announcement regarding addition twenty extra large- scale long-haul versions model type being built currently under construction manufacturing facilities located various sites worldwide operated major European consortium known globally leader field aerospace industry namely none other than famous multinational corporation headquartered Toulouse France commonly referred simply Airbus SE formerly called Société Européenne Production Aéronautique abbreviated SEPA French language meaning European Company Aeronautical Production English translation equivalent name changed later date reflect broader scope activities engaged today compared original founding entity established way back early twentieth century precisely nineteen- hundred sixty-nine merger several smaller firms brought together create single powerful organization capable competing effectively against rivals market place dominated American giants Boeing Lockheed Martin among others time since gone become dominant player sector thanks innovative designs cutting-edge technology employed consistently throughout history leading development many iconic models including bestselling commercial jetliner all-time narrow-body twin-engine short- medium range transport family originally introduced mid-nineties still popular use airlines around globe well-known designation series latest iteration being subject current discussion course wide-body intercontinental variant featuring advanced materials systems intended replace older less efficient counterparts fleet thereby significantly boosting capacity offering fifteen percent increase premium seating availability comparison previous configurations operated carrier past decades now set enter service near future once deliveries commence scheduled begin rolling out towards latter part upcoming biennium continuing steadily pace approximately dozen per annum average projected extend several subsequent concluding final batch expected arrive hands customers somewhere turn following decade exact dates yet confirmed pending progress production lines ramped meet demand anticipated orders received far exceeding initial estimates proving tremendous success both parties involved deal struck earlier part current calendar marking important milestone long-standing relationship maintained between two industry leaders respective fields expertise working together achieve common goal providing superior travel experiences millions passengers worldwide relying services daily basis traveling vast distances safely comfortably efficiently possible thanks state art solutions implemented board ensuring remain forefront technological advancements ever-evolving world modern aviation.
