United Airlines has implemented last-minute adjustments ahead of the upcoming summer season, primarily involving minor changes in aircraft types.

As reported by AeroRoutes, United Airlines has made slight modifications to its summer schedule, which will run from March 30 to October 26.

One notable change is on flights between Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD) and Athens Airport (ATH). The airline will deploy the Boeing 787-10 between May and September, increasing capacity with a larger aircraft and an extended operation period. In contrast, between May 2024 and August 2024, United Airlines used its 787-8 for this route, raising average seats per departure from 243 to 318 according to Cirium’s Diio Mi airline planning tool.

Cirium’s Diio Mi data, citing the United States Department of Transportation (DOT), revealed that from late May to August, United Airlines’ flights between Chicago and Athens averaged a load factor of 90%, peaking at 92.8%.

Other changes out of Chicago include earlier resumption of seasonal flights to Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN) and Reykjavik Keflavik International Airport (KEF), aircraft changes on routes to Dublin Airport (DUB) and Munich Airport (MUC), and later service resumptions to Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP).

Additionally, as previously announced, United Airlines will commence flights from Denver International Airport (DEN) to Rome Leonardo da Vinci Fiumicino Airport (FCO) in May.

Returning an abandoned route

Changes are also slated for Guam Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport (GUM). Starting April 2, weekly flights from Guam to Nagoya Chubu Centrair International Airport (NGO) will be reduced from seven one-way departures per week in February and March down to five. Notably, starting in April, Continental Airlines' previously dropped route between Guam and Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE), abandoned since October 2005, will resume.

In December 2024 and January onwards China Airlines had two weekly flights on this route according to Cirium’s Diio Mi data.

Furthermore, there will be a reduction in weekly flights between Guam and Tokyo Narita International Airport (NRT), decreasing from25 weekly flights down to18between April-July; however these changes aren't yet reflected on Cirium’s Diio Mi tool which still shows25weekly flights scheduled for April through June with16in July.
