Spirit Airlines fans remain loyal to the airline despite its recent challenges, including two failed merger attempts with Frontier and JetBlue, and a bankruptcy filing in November. The carrier is relying on its existing operations and devoted customer base to navigate these turbulent times.

Several factors contribute to this loyalty. Spirit's flight safety record and exclusive use of Airbus aircraft are key reasons why longtime fans feel safer flying with the budget carrier. Despite ranking low in the 2024 Axios Harris Poll on brand reputation, Spirit appears to be doing something right to retain its customers.

The airline said, "It’s the big idea behind our business model, making it possible for more people to travel to more places, more often. And it’s what inspires us to Invest In The Guest, going beyond low fares to discover more ways to make our unique brand of customizable À La Smarte travel a great experience too. Providing More Go is why our all-Airbus fleet serves more than 90 destinations across the U.S., Latin America and the Caribbean. More Go is our promise to those who wish to be well-traveled, and those who want to travel well. "

Amidst recent incidents involving Delta and American Airlines planes, Spirit customers are increasingly scrutinizing airline safety standards in America. The exclusive operation of Airbus aircraft by Spirit has also been a selling point for some passengers wary of Boeing planes following high-profile crashes involving Boeing 737 MAX models.

A Spirit Airline passenger said, "Even if the Spirit flight is the same price as American, Delta and United airlines, I’m gonna fly Spirit. I’ve flown Spirit multiple times in the last few months, and I felt super safe in them. "

Another frequent traveler with Spirit Airlines wrote in BuzzFeed: "Hot Take: I Love Spirit Airlines And I’m Not Ashamed To Admit It... They make the space more competitive so other airlines are cheaper which I love. "

She added that she regularly took $45 flights between Chicago and Fort Lauderdale during her college days without any major issues regarding comfort.

While some passengers appreciate low fares even at the cost of reduced comfort levels compared to full-service airlines others highlight another significant aspect - safety records. A TikTok user went viral noting that "Spirit Airlines has NEVER had a fatal plane crash," emphasizing their confidence in flying w ith

Kristy Kiernan from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University offered a broader perspective on aviation safety saying that risk perception can lead to anxiety but objectively speaking all US domestic flights maintain incredibly low-risk levels for passengers regardless of airplane type or airline.
