Qatar Airways has announced the launch of an off-airport check-in service in Makkah, designed to provide greater convenience for Hajj and Umrah passengers. The airline made the announcement on February 27 via a post on X, with the service set to commence on March 1.

According to Qatar Airways, this new service will allow passengers to complete check-in procedures, receive boarding passes, and have their baggage collected before arriving at the airport. Developed in collaboration with Saudi Ground Services, the initiative aims to enhance the travel experience for pilgrims.

The check-in facility will be situated at the Makkah Clock Royal Tower, a Fairmont Hotel, providing easy access from the ring road entrance on Level 2. Passengers departing from Jeddah are expected to benefit from reduced wait times at the airport and more streamlined processing.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer said that the airline recognizes "the profound significance of Hajj and Umrah" and is committed to ensuring a seamless experience for travelers. He added that this initiative is part of Qatar Airways' ongoing efforts to offer world-class services tailored to its passengers' needs.

Saudi Ground Services CEO Mohammad Abdul Kareem Mazi highlighted the collaboration by stating that the initiative aligns with the company’s mission to support Hajj and Umrah passengers with efficient and convenient travel solutions. He reiterated that the partnership reflects a shared commitment to facilitating pilgrims’ journeys.

Founded in 1993, Qatar Airways is a state-owned flag carrier of Qatar, operating a global network of over 170 destinations. According to their website, the airline offers more than 120 weekly flights to Saudi Arabia, including 35 weekly flights to Jeddah. It has won the ‘World’s Best Airline’ award from Skytrax eight times and is recognized for its service excellence and innovation.
