Delta expands international reach with new Austin-Cancun route

Delta Air Lines has announced an expansion of its services at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, introducing a new nonstop route to Cancun, Mexico, and additional flights to Orlando. The airline disclosed this development in a post on X on February 28.

According to Delta, the seasonal nonstop service from Austin to Cancun will commence on December 20, 2025, and continue through mid-April 2026. This route will be operated daily using an Airbus A320, which offers First Class, Delta Comfort+, and Main Cabin seating.

Paul Baldoni, Delta’s Senior Vice President of Network Planning, said that the airline is "the leading global network carrier at Austin-Bergstrom," with nearly 60 peak-day departures during winter. Baldoni said that the Cancun route is part of Delta's strategy to provide "more popular leisure destinations" for travelers from Austin.

In addition to the Cancun service, Delta is increasing its Austin-Orlando flights to twice daily during the peak winter travel season. The expansion will include morning and afternoon flight options for customers​ as noted on its website.

Delta is also expanding its domestic network from Austin with new routes to New Orleans, Jacksonville, Indianapolis, Memphis, San Francisco, and Tampa starting between February and June 2025. The airline anticipates more than a 35% year-over-year increase in departures from Austin​.

Based in Atlanta, Georgia, Delta Air Lines is one of the largest global carriers. According to the company’s official website, it operates a fleet of more than 900 aircraft and serves over 275 destinations across six continents. The airline emphasizes safety, reliability, and customer satisfaction in its operations.
