Carsten Spohr, Chairman of the Executive Board and CEO of Deutsche Lufthansa AG | https://www.lufthansagroup.com/en/company/company-management/carsten-spohr.html

Carsten Spohr, chairman of the executive board and CEO of Deutsche Lufthansa AG, said that 2025 "will be a year of transformation" as the company seeks to strengthen its global market position. Spohr made this statement in a press release on March 6.

"Aviation is and remains an industry of the future with sustained strong demand," said Spohr,. "At the Lufthansa Group, we can look back on the strongest year in our history in terms of revenue, with a new load factor record. This year, 2025, will be a year of transformation for us with a clear goal: to further strengthen our position as the global number one outside the United States."

According to the Lufthansa Group, the company reported a fourth-quarter profit increase of 66 million euros, reaching 468 million euros, and an annual operating profit of 1.6 billion euros. The company achieved its highest-ever revenue of 37.6 billion euros, driven by record load factors and a 7% increase in passenger numbers to over 130 million. A dividend of 0.30 euros per share has been proposed at the Annual General Meeting.

In 2024, the Lufthansa Group's airlines transported 131 million passengers, marking a 7% increase from the previous year. The passenger load factor reached a record 83.1%, with peak months July and August achieving almost 88%.

The Lufthansa Group has proposed a dividend of €0.30 per share for the 2024 financial year, aligning with its policy of distributing 20% to 40% of net profit to shareholders. The dividend is scheduled for payment on May 9, 2025, resulting in a dividend yield of approximately 3.8%.

In an effort to enhance synergies among its various airlines and improve customer experience, Lufthansa Group plans to implement a new umbrella brand strategy in 2025. According to Travel and Tour World, this initiative aims to make the group's advantages more tangible to passengers since approximately half of transfer passengers utilize multiple Lufthansa Group airlines during their journeys. The strategy will emphasize seamless integration through complementary route networks, shared ground infrastructure, and digital services like the Lufthansa Group app.

Founded in 1953, Lufthansa Group is one of the world’s largest airline companies, operating multiple carriers including Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, and Eurowings. The company is headquartered in Cologne, Germany.
