Michael Niggemann, Chief Human Resources Officer of Deutsche Lufthansa AG, said that the Lufthansa Group has increased the proportion of women in management to over 25% and remains committed to sustainable development. Niggemann made this statement in a press release dated March 7.

"We are delighted to have increased the proportion of women in management positions across the Group to over 25 percent," said Niggemann. "The goal is and remains sustainable development without gender discrimination. We are particularly proud of the impressive growth in the field of technology. We will now continue to consistently pursue the path we have taken - through talent promotion programs and guidelines on the visibility of female candidates in the application process."

According to the Lufthansa Group's announcement on March 7, it had reached its goal of having 25% female managers by early 2025. This effort aligns with the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) "25by2025" initiative aimed at enhancing diversity within the aviation industry. Over 200 aviation companies have pledged their commitment to this industry-wide endeavor. Lufthansa plans to continue promoting inclusion through targeted talent programs and leadership development initiatives.

BreakingTravelNews.com reported that Niggemann acknowledged that while reaching this milestone is significant, "this is still too little." He emphasized the importance of sustainable development without gender discrimination and noted that progress, though sometimes slow, remains necessary.

To support the increase in female leadership roles, Lufthansa Group has implemented a global program specifically for women in management positions. The company also introduced new guidelines to ensure greater visibility for female candidates during the hiring process.

Lufthansa Group operates as one of the world's largest airline companies, with subsidiaries including Austrian Airlines, Swiss International Air Lines, and Eurowings. The company is headquartered in Germany and is a founding member of the Star Alliance.
