Many numbers are considered lucky, unlucky, superstitious, or somehow unique. It varies regionally, religiously, culturally, historically, or by country. Some numbers are directly associated with a particular event that resonates positively or negatively. Fortunately, I am not superstitious, which is just as well: I was born on Friday the 13th. What about 666--the so-called "number of the beast"--on US flights?

There have been many changes between April and December 2025.

Most flight numbers are randomly allocated. However, using unusual or special numbers for flights can be intriguing. It can apply to a specific carrier, including changing a number out of respect after a flight has gone down, resulting in a loss of life.

It can also be broadly applied at an individual country level or more or less across the whole industry, such as not having the flight number (or row) 13. The most obvious example is flight number one, which conjures images of importance or difference or reflects a historical point in time, a technological advancement, or a specific market or passenger type.

Then there''s flight number 666. It is synonymous with the devil, the antichrist, and evil generally. For some people--especially in the West--this number is believed to hold such meaning that it scares them into taking action or changing things. Not surprisingly., the US has barely any routes with flight . .. but it is about to get another.
