Delta Air Lines has resumed its service between Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) and Hector International Airport (FAR) in Fargo, North Dakota. This short seasonal service commenced on March 15 and will continue until April 12. The flight from Atlanta (DL 8815) departs at 21:50, with the return flight (DL 8816) leaving Fargo at 00:50.

The flights are scheduled to operate once a week on Saturdays, totaling ten return flights. Shawn Dobberstein, executive director of Hector International, said:

“Delta announced this a few months ago. It does not have anything to do with the (Hector International) expansion. It is due to passenger demand … Delta has been trying to reinstate this seasonal service since the end of the pandemic. It was a popular seasonal route before the pandemic and remains a popular route. Cruise ship passengers appreciate this additional service.”

Paula Ekman, chair of the Fargo Airport Authority, expressed her enthusiasm for the new service:

“I think it’s really exciting for Fargo, and I hope that those flights fill up and Delta, you know, offers us more. It’s great news for us, I think. It’s exciting. I think it would just be fantastic if this could be a more permanent offering for us.”

According to Cirium, an aviation analytics company, Delta is deploying the Boeing 737-900ER on this route. Simple Flying has reached out to the airline for further details.

In response to market demand dynamics, airlines often adjust their routes accordingly. For instance, Delta Air Lines began operating flights between Austin–Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) and Valley International Airport (HRL) in Harlingen last October but has decided to cancel this service by June 7.

Delta expects a busy summer with an expansion of twenty domestic routes. For example, it will launch a seasonal route between New York LaGuardia (LGA) and Panama City (ECP) on June 14 that will operate until September 6.

As part of its expansion plans,Deltawill resume connections between AtlantaHertsfield - JacksonInternationalAirport( ATL )and BangorInternationalAirport( BGR ),DetroitInternationalAirport( DTW )and Bozeman YellowstoneInternationalAirport( BZN ), among others .
