Delta Air Lines is celebrating its 100th year of flight by introducing a new safety video this April. The video, titled "A Hundred Years of Safety," aims to engage customers with historical references while delivering clear and concise safety instructions.

The video takes viewers on a journey through the decades of air travel, starting in the 1920s. It features 11 Delta logos and 10 employees wearing historically accurate pilot and flight attendant uniforms, provided by archivists from the Delta Flight Museum. A special cameo appearance is made by the iconic 'Deltalina' amid various cultural references.

"These quintessential uniforms and references not only demonstrate just how much has changed throughout the last 100 years of air travel – including habits, fashion and culture – but that Delta’s commitment to safety has always been our top priority," said Maya Dukes, Managing Director of Global Brand Strategy, Creative and Social. "Our safety video is viewed by hundreds of thousands of customers every day from all walks of life, so it’s the perfect creative venue to honor our history and people while captivating the attention of customers as they prepare for takeoff. "

Delta collaborated closely with the Federal Aviation Administration over several months to ensure that the content met all necessary requirements. The video includes key safety information mandated for all U.S. airlines, such as locating emergency exits, using oxygen masks, and procedures for sudden evacuations.

Since Delta's first 'stewardesses' took to the skies in 1940, flight attendants have had primary responsibility for ensuring customer safety and comfort. New hires undergo a seven-week hands-on training program at Delta's Atlanta headquarters to prepare them for various onboard situations including turbulence, unruly passengers, medical emergencies, and evacuations.

"Air travel is the safest form of transportation, and that’s because safety is embedded into every aspect of our business and industry," said Kristen Manion Taylor, S.V.P. of In-Flight Service. "Rigorously training our flight attendants to be safety professionals and educating our customers on the safety protocols and procedures that they’re expected to comply with is non-negotiable. "

Upon completing training, flight attendants earn their wings at a graduation ceremony where they receive their new Delta uniform—a symbol representing hard work\, dedication\, and readiness to provide exceptional service.

"The Delta uniform is an extension of who we are – a globally recognized, premium brand built on core values including safety, service excellence[,] \and [] reliability," said Ekrem Dimbiloglu[], Managing Director[] Onboard Strategy[] Experience[].

Cultural shifts in style have influenced changes in uniforms over time. Uniforms featured throughout "A Hundred Years Of Safety" reflect these evolving styles.

Delta remains committed to upholding high standards across all operations. Employees are empowered to take necessary steps ensuring their own safety along with colleagues' []customers', even if it means slowing down or stopping operations altogether.
