Air India might be considering a major aircraft order as part of its ongoing turnaround initiative. Sources indicate that the carrier is contemplating a widebody aircraft order split between European manufacturer Airbus and American counterpart Boeing.

While Air India refused to address the speculation, this potential order could play a significant role in revitalizing the carrier. Once celebrated for its world-class service, Air India's reputation, operations, and financial performance have deteriorated over past decades. Now under new ownership by Tata Group, there is an renewed focus on making Air India competitive again.

Sources claim that Air India is currently in talks with Airbus and Boeing for a substantial widebody aircraft order, according to Reuters. This long-haul aircraft order would be divided between the two suppliers and could involve between 30-40 jets or potentially even more than 50.
