Emirates donates educational supplies in Bangladesh supporting early education

Emirates has contributed to early education in Bangladesh by donating 187 special edition 'Aircrafted KIDS by Emirates' bags filled with stationery and learning supplies. The donation was made to students at Kanan, Thikana (Shelter Home), and Ahsania Mission Shishu Nagari, organizations dedicated to providing educational opportunities for underprivileged children.

These organizations were chosen because they create supportive environments for disadvantaged youths. The initiative aligns with Emirates' commitment to "connecting communities" by fostering meaningful relationships and making a positive impact in the regions it serves.

Mansoor Alsuwaidi, Airport Services Manager, Bangladesh for Emirates, stated: “At Emirates we are committed to supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goal No. 4 to ensure every child has access to quality education and gets a chance to learn, thrive and unlock their full potential. We are delighted to collaborate with organizations such as Kanan, Thikana (Shelter Home), and Ahsania Mission Shishu Nagari which are dedicated to uplifting lives of underprivileged communities by providing them basic necessities and shelter. With these Aircrafted bags we provided essential educational supplies and stationery that will greatly benefit the students' learning experiences. We hope these resources will enable them to learn, grow, and build brighter futures."

He added that the donated bags are made from upcycled materials, teaching children about sustainability while being designed based on research into children's styles and needs.

Md. Shajedul Qayyum Dulal, Executive Director of Dhaka Ahsania Mission parent NGO of Kanan, Ahsania Mission Shishu Nagari and Thikana (Shelter Home), expressed gratitude: "We are grateful to Emirates for their donation. Their commitment to investing in our community's future propels our mission to elevate the lives of underprivileged children. Our students are excited to be a part of the Aircrafted program and receive these unique bags which will not only benefit them in their day-to-day life but will inspire them to aim higher.”

The organizations selected specific bags from the 'Aircrafted by Emirates' collection tailored for different age groups. These backpacks were handmade using materials upcycled from Emirates' aircraft undergoing refurbishments.

Alongside the bags, Emirates provided school supplies including pens, pencils, erasers, calculators, notebooks, water bottles, lunchboxes, and books from local authors featuring culturally rich stories.

Under the Aircrafted program more than 50,000 kg of materials from 191 aircraft slated for refurbishment are expected to be repurposed. Besides Bangladesh, similar donations have been made in Pakistan and India totaling 700 bags in Asia after donating 1,239 in Africa previously.
