Air Canada's Aeroplan program has transitioned to a dynamic pricing model for select partner airlines, including United Airlines. This shift marks the end of fixed award charts for these partners, introducing a "Starting at" range and a median price point. According to The Points Guy, this change has resulted in increased prices for some redemptions.

The new pricing structure applies to several airlines: United, Emirates, Etihad Airways, Flydubai, Calm Air, Canadian North, and PAL Airlines. The median price is intended to provide an estimate based on previous data and will be updated quarterly.

Short-haul domestic flights under 500 miles have seen significant increases. Previously costing 6,000 points each way in economy class, these flights now consistently require 10,000 points—a 67% increase. Longer routes have also experienced price hikes ranging from 11% to 50%.

For example:

- Flights between Los Angeles and Las Vegas or Chicago and Toronto now cost 10,000 points.

- Routes such as Denver to San Francisco or Houston to Mexico City are priced at 15,000 points.

- Longer journeys like Denver to Honolulu have risen from 22,500 points to 25,000 points.

Business-class fares on international routes show less consistent changes. For instance:

- Washington D.C.'s Dulles International Airport (IAD) to Frankfurt Airport (FRA) varies between 70,000 and 80,000 points depending on the date.

- Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to London's Heathrow Airport (LHR) ranges from 60,000 to 80,000 points.

Some international routes remain unchanged for now:

- Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Sydney Airport (SYD): 60,000 points in economy class

- IAD to Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos: 40,000 points in economy class

- SFO to Tokyo's Haneda Airport: 60,000 points in economy class

Aeroplan members with status or an Aeroplan Credit Card can access reduced award fares despite the new pricing model.

Air Canada's Aeroplan continues offering value on longer domestic and international routes despite these changes. However, short-haul flights are becoming more costly in terms of Aeroplan points.
