Emirates, the world's largest international airline, has taken a step to support education in India by donating 400 special edition school bags from its 'Aircrafted by Emirates' collection to Smile Foundation. This initiative aims to assist underprivileged children with essential supplies for their schooling.

The donation aligns with India's ongoing efforts to improve its educational infrastructure and resources. The backpacks, filled with stationery and learning materials, are intended to provide practical support for students associated with Smile Foundation. The organization focuses on creating safe educational environments for disadvantaged youths.

Mohammad Sarhan, Vice President of Emirates for India, emphasized the importance of education as a fundamental right. He stated: “Education is a fundamental right. In line with our support for UN Sustainable Development Goal number 4, focused on quality education, we are dedicated to ensuring that children, regardless of their circumstances, have access to the resources needed to learn and create an equitable future for themselves.”

Sarhan also highlighted the partnership with Smile Foundation: "We are pleased to partner with Smile Foundation, that has been working for over two decades to ensure underprivileged children have the opportunity to progress." He noted that the bags are made from upcycled materials from Emirates aircraft and contain items like stationery and hygiene products.

Santanu Mishra, Co-founder & Executive Trustee of Smile Foundation, expressed appreciation for Emirates' contribution: “Education of children is the key to a future full of potential and is instrumental in nation-building too. I firmly believe in the philosophy of civic-driven change... We appreciate Emirates for encouraging our children and our initiatives.”

Smile Foundation selected specific bags suitable for various age groups from the 'Aircrafted by Emirates' collection. These were handmade using materials repurposed from Emirates' A380 and B777 aircraft undergoing refurbishments.

Alongside the backpacks, Emirates provided additional school supplies such as pens, pencils, calculators, notebooks, sanitizers, soaps, sanitary items, and culturally rich books designed to enhance interactive learning among students.
