American Airlines is set to expand its services in the Dominican Republic with the introduction of four new nonstop routes to Punta Cana. The Fort Worth-based airline will begin these weekly Saturday flights on December 6, linking Punta Cana International Airport with Indianapolis, Nashville, Pittsburgh, and Raleigh-Durham. These cities are not American's hubs.

Additionally, American will launch a new international route from Oklahoma City’s Will Rogers International Airport to Cancun starting November 8. This marks the first international service from Oklahoma.

The airline also announced three new domestic routes for winter. Starting October 6, flights will connect Los Angeles to Des Moines and Phoenix to Little Rock. A new route from Charlotte to Aspen will begin on December 19.

Furthermore, American plans to increase service frequency on some existing international routes popular during winter months. It will add more flights from Dallas-Fort Worth to Maui and South America destinations like Sao Paulo and Buenos Aires in November and December.

The airline is extending seasonal services from New York's JFK to Barcelona until December 2 and Philadelphia to Athens until November 17. Flights between Dallas-Fort Worth and Dublin will continue through the holiday season.

These expansions come as airlines notice an increasing trend of travelers flying across the Atlantic during colder months previously considered off-peak.
