Embraer Lineage 1000 | Official Website

The Embraer Lineage 1000, derived from the Embraer E-Jet series, particularly the E190 regional jet, remains a notable presence in the business aviation market with its spacious cabin and extended range. Launched in 2006 and seeing its first delivery in 2009, the Lineage 1000 was designed for the ultra-large business jet sector. It gained popularity for its large cabin and cost-effective operations, although production ceased in 2020.

Embraer’s President and CEO, Francisco Gomes Neto, remarked on the presence of the Lineage 1000 in the market: "With its first delivery in 2009, the aircraft quickly gained attention for its spacious cabin." The aircraft's design offers comfort, with a cabin accommodating up to 19 passengers. The advanced entertainment systems and customizations, such as stand-up showers, cater to luxury travelers.

The aircraft's performance is sustained by two General Electric CF34-10E7 engines, facilitating a range of about 4,600 nautical miles. This range allows flights between locations like New York and Istanbul or London to Dubai. The aircraft's adaptability to shorter runway operations enhances its appeal for widespread airport access.

The operational costs of owning and maintaining a Lineage 1000 are considerable. A pre-owned model costs between $30 million and $50 million. Alternatively, renting the aircraft can cost around $14,850 per hour. A detailed overview of costs includes fixed expenses on crew salaries, training, hangar fees, insurance, and management fees, totaling an estimated $630,000 annually. Variable expenses like fuel and maintenance run at about $4,445 per flight hour.

Competitors such as the Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) and Airbus ACJ320 offer more extended ranges and larger cabins. However, they come with steeper acquisition and operating costs. Francisco Gomes Neto said, "The key advantage of the Lineage 1000 is its lower operating costs compared to these larger corporate airliners."

The Lineage 1000 remains a substantial option for those seeking a balance of luxury and cost-effectiveness. However, given the cessation of its production, interested parties must look to pre-owned options or conversions from an Embraer E190. As the market stands, it remains a strong competitor in terms of operational economics, versus offerings from Dassault and Gulfstream among others.
