Lufthansa has announced a new partnership with ITA Airways, which will enable mutual loyalty benefits and expanded travel access. The announcement was made on the social media platform X on February 3.

According to Lufthansa's official website, the agreement between Lufthansa Group airlines and ITA Airways will cover over 100 European routes starting from March 30, 2025. This collaboration aims to provide passengers with a broader range of flight options and increased flexibility. The partnership is part of Lufthansa's strategy to enhance connectivity within Europe.

As reported by Reuters, Lufthansa has acquired a 41% stake in ITA Airways for 325 million euros, aiming to strengthen its presence in the southern European market. Lufthansa's CEO, Carsten Spohr, indicated that the company plans to purchase additional shares in ITA in 2025, though not intending to raise its stake to 90% within the year. This investment is expected to contribute positively to Lufthansa's earnings starting in 2025.

According to Airways Magazine, the integration of ITA Airways into the Lufthansa Group has commenced, offering passengers immediate benefits such as combined frequent flyer programs, terminal changes, mutual lounge access, and an increase in codeshare agreements. This integration aims to enhance the travel experience for passengers across both airlines. The collaboration is expected to streamline operations and provide a more seamless journey for travelers.

As detailed on Lufthansa's official website, ITA Airways will relocate to Terminal 1 at Frankfurt Airport and Terminal 2 at Munich Airport from the summer flight schedule of 2025. This move is designed to improve connections between ITA Airways flights and those operated by Lufthansa Group airlines, facilitating smoother transfers for passengers. The terminal changes are part of broader efforts to optimize airport operations and enhance passenger convenience.
