In a social media complaint, a passenger expressed frustration over a dog that reportedly barked incessantly on a United Airlines flight from Paris to Newark, disrupting the journey for those onboard. The passenger shared their dissatisfaction on Reddit, notably in a forum not curated by United Airlines, recounting that the barking commenced about an hour into the transatlantic flight and persisted, audible even in the airplane's restroom.

Despite the passenger not specifying whether they were on flight UA55 or UA56—flights United operates between Paris Charles De Gaulle and Newark Liberty International Airports—the irritation was accentuated by their observation that the dog appeared too large for its carrier. The Reddit post detailed, "I think the poor flight attendants had encouraged [the dog owner] to bring it [to] the back of the plane to settle [it] down. It was quickly apparent that the dog was [way] too big for the carrier, it could not stand up. Or even lay down comfortably without the expansion panel open (they were)."

The experience left the traveler with newfound empathy for the flight attendants who managed the situation involving a seemingly indifferent owner, recounting: "The lady did not care at all, and when the flight attendant told her the dog was too big, her response was, 'No, he is not.' It was crazy."

United Airlines, according to its pet travel guidelines, permits felines and canines in the cabin, stressing the necessity for an appropriately sized carrier under the seat. "If you plan to fly with your pet, they must be a cat or dog and stay in the cabin with you […]," advises the airline. Yet, no details confirmed whether the barking companion was a service animal.

While the incident sparked discussion online, no diversions have been recorded on recent United Airlines flights on this route, as per Flightradar24 data.
