Alaska Airlines has announced operational changes at New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). Starting March 30, flights AS41 from San Francisco International Airport and AS24 from San Diego International Airport will now operate out of Terminal 8. "Check in and drop your bags at the T8 Alaska counter, then go through security to reach your gate. First Class guests on flights departing from Terminal 8 are welcome in the Admirals Club," stated Alaska Airlines, providing additional information about the updated process.

For parking, the Terminal 7 lot will be reserved for Premium and ADA parking, while non-ADA or non-Premium travelers departing from Terminal 7 will use the Terminal 8 lot and take the AirTrain back to Terminal 7. The Terminal 8 ticket counter for Alaska Airlines will operate daily from 13:15 to 16:30. Although CLEAR, Clear Plus, and a children's area will not be available, passengers can access TSA PreCheck and Global Entry, as well as a partner lounge.

Aside from Alaska Airlines, Terminal 8 at JFK services carriers such as American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, and others, most of which are part of the oneworld alliance, including Alaska Airlines. China Southern Airlines operates out of Terminal 8 but is not affiliated with any airline alliance. Meanwhile, Hawaiian Airlines, now acquired by Alaska Airlines, continues to operate from Terminal 4.

Alaska Airlines’ JFK operations show a significant presence, with data from Cirium’s Diio Mi airline planning tool indicating 78 weekly flights scheduled for April, with high-frequency routes from Seattle-Tacoma and San Francisco. Hawaiian Airlines complements this with a daily flight from Honolulu to JFK.

A significant redevelopment initiative is underway at New York-JFK’s Terminal 8. In July 2023, American Airlines, in collaboration with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield Airports, started a $125 million program at Terminal 8. The project aims to highlight local businesses and New York’s culinary scene, offering over 60 new shopping and dining outlets. The Port Authority reported that these concessions will begin to open throughout 2025. This investment follows a completed $400 million project by American Airlines and British Airways to move operations to Terminal 8 in 2022.
