The Airbus A380, first introduced in October 2007 by Singapore Airlines for its Sydney route, was embraced by 15 airlines over the years. However, six of these airlines have halted their A380 services to the United States: Air France, China Southern, Etihad Airways, HiFly (for Norwegian), Qatar Airways, and Singapore Airlines.

Air France, China Southern, and HiFly have withdrawn the A380 entirely, while Qatar Airways has not maintained a regular A380 route to the US. Although Etihad and Singapore Airlines continue to use the plane for other destinations, only Etihad is currently flying it to the US, a service set to end by June 23, after which the aircraft will serve Toronto.

Air France commenced its A380 flights to the US in 2009, serving various routes until 2020. China Southern operated its last A380 service to Los Angeles in early 2022. Etihad will conclude its last US A380 flights this June.

HiFly briefly operated the A380 for Norwegian between London Gatwick and New York JFK in 2018 and 2019. This operation was due to engine inspections and replacements needed for Norwegian's 787-9s. Qatar Airways used the A380 once in 2016 to mark its new Doha-Atlanta route.

Singapore Airlines used the A380 on multiple routes to the US from 2011 until as recently as 2023. Their A380 operation on the Frankfurt-New York JFK route concluded last year.

These airlines, during their use of the A380 between 2009 and 2025, accounted for a significant share of the A380 capacity to and from the US, moving 25.7 million passengers. Air France had the highest number of seats, followed by Singapore Airlines and China Southern.

Between June 2016 and September 2019, these carriers achieved up to nine daily flights from the US. For example, on August 13, 2019, the airlines collectively ran flights departing back to their home airports, highlighting the high demand for such large aircraft during peak travel periods.

As the superjumbo's presence in the US diminishes, the aviation industry continues to evolve, adapting to new market conditions and changing fleet compositions.
