Gulfstream G650 | Official Website

The Gulfstream G650 has been a prominent figure in the realm of ultra-long-range business jets since its introduction to the market in 2009. The aircraft swiftly became a bestseller in its category, contending with formidable rivals such as the Bombardier Global and Dassault Falcon. The G650 is noted for its innovative design, characterized by a larger fuselage, advanced flight deck, new wings, and engines, distinguishing it from its predecessor, the Gulfstream G550.

Michael Jordan, among other high-profile individuals, has been noted for acquiring a Gulfstream G650ER private jet. This demonstrates the aircraft's significant appeal among wealthy individuals.

The Gulfstream G650 entered service in 2012, and almost 600 units, including the extended-range G650ER, have been delivered since then. This popularity underscores its status as a leading choice for long-distance jet travel, despite its high purchase and operating costs. As of its debut, the G650 was priced at a minimum of $68 million, with annual expenses reaching into the millions.

The G650ER set the record for the longest business jet flight in 2019, flying from Singapore to Tucson, Arizona, in just over 15 hours. This record-breaking flight highlights the aircraft's impressive capabilities.

Gulfstream advertises the G650’s cabin as a luxurious and customizable space, with features like a "clean air system" and a cabin altitude lower than that of many contemporary airliners. Gulfstream also states, "Your cabin, your canvas," emphasizing the customizability of the aircraft's interior.

In comparison with its main competitors at the time of its launch, the Dassault Falcon 7X and Bombardier Global 6000, the G650 offered more space, range, and speed. The Gulfstream G650 has maintained a strong position in the market, even as newer models such as the Dassault Falcon 8X and Global 7500 emerged.

The Gulfstream G800 and G700 represent Gulfstream's ongoing dedication to innovation, with the G800 essentially being an enhanced G650ER and the G700 succeeding the G650ER as Gulfstream's largest model.

Gulfstream occupies a substantial portion of the ultra-long-range business jet market, especially in the United States. The company continues to uphold its reputation for developing advanced aircraft, and the enduring popularity of the G650 series among the ultra-wealthy is a testament to its success.

Overall, the Gulfstream G650 and G650ER remain sought-after aircraft, celebrated for their design and performance. While production of the G650 has ceased, it continues to be regarded as an icon of private aviation.
