As fans eagerly anticipate the UEFA Europa League quarter-final matchup between Rangers and Athletic Club, a surge in flights from Glasgow to Bilbao is on the horizon. The first leg is set for April 10th in Glasgow, with the second match following a week later at the Estadio San Mamés in Bilbao. In response, airlines are stepping up with special services to transport fans.

Spanish low-cost airline Vueling will operate dedicated flights for both matches. For the first leg, Vueling flight VY6460 will depart Bilbao at 07:10, arriving in Glasgow at 08:35. The return flight VY6461 will leave Glasgow at 09:30 and is scheduled to land back in Bilbao at 13:05. Cirium data reveals that these flights will use 180-seat Airbus A320 aircraft. The early flight times will pose a challenge for Athletic Club fans after the Glasgow match.

A week later, Rangers fans will journey to Bilbao for the return leg. Vueling has arranged a return flight that matches the outbound timing of the previous leg. It will leave Glasgow at 09:30 and reach Bilbao by 13:05 on April 17th. The return trip will be early on April 18th, departing Bilbao at 07:00 and arriving in Glasgow by 08:25. Vueling highlighted these flights' significance: "These additional flights demonstrate Vueling's commitment to connecting the UK to cities across Spain. Bilbao, much like Glasgow, is famous for its industrial heritage and iconic cultural centers, making it the perfect location to explore while there for the game."

TUI is also offering flights for the second leg, using a 149-seat Boeing 737-700. The outbound flight will leave Glasgow at 09:00 on April 17th, arriving in Bilbao by 12:40. The return flight offers a more convenient schedule, departing at 13:00 on April 18th and reaching Glasgow at 14:50. The Scottish Sun notes the hefty fare for these flights at £1656 ($2,142).

This boom in flights highlights the level of anticipation surrounding the Europa League tie, with fans preparing for a spirited showing to support their teams in Bilbao.
