フェデックスが日本の埼玉県越谷市内の一部地域への輸送サービスを強化し、輸入貨物の配達を平日に1日短縮することを発表しました。この変更により、対象地域の顧客は荷物をより早く受け取ることができるようになります。
このサービス強化は、フェデックス･インターナショナル･プライオリティ・エクスプレス、フェデックス･インターナショナル･プライオリティ、フェデックス・インターナショナル・プライオリティ・フレイト、フェデックス・インターナショナル・エコノミーおよびフェデックス・インターナショナル・エコノミー・フレイトの利用者に提供されます。
該当地域である越谷市は、様々な製造業や中小企業が集まるエリアで、特に機械、医療機器、スポーツ用品、食品卸売、自動車部品、情報通信技術機器の製造業者が多く、海外との貿易にも注力しています。
フェデックスの日本における代表者である久保田圭氏は、次のように述べています。「フェデックスは、グローバル化が進む今日の経済が製造業の環境を変革し、世界中から原材料や部品が調達されるようになったことを認識しています。製造業にとって配送のスピードは非常に重要です。我々は、貨物配送を迅速化することで、この地域でフェデックスを利用するお客様を支援し、競争優位性の維持を支援していきます」
同社は、世界規模でのネットワーク最適化とサービス向上を進めており、2025年には京都府内の一部地域でも同様の輸送時間短縮を行っています。また、先進的なデジタル技術やAIを用いたFedEx SurroundやFedExインポートツールで、貨物の管理と可視性向上を図り、複雑な国際貿易への対応を支援しています。
