ITA Airways announced that flight AZ806 managed to land safely after a brief hold due to nearby missile activity. The announcement was made on X on March 27.

According to Reuters, ITA Airways resumed flights between Rome and Tel Aviv on February 1, 2025, after a four-month suspension due to conflicts in the Middle East. The airline initially operated one daily flight, with plans to add a nighttime flight from February 16, depending on the geopolitical situation. This resumption followed a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, leading several European airlines to restore connections to the region.

As reported by Reuters, ITA Airways resumed direct flights from Rome to Tripoli in January 2025 after a ten-year hiatus caused by Libya's civil war. Operating two flights weekly between Rome's Fiumicino Airport and Tripoli's Mitiga Airport, this move marked the first major Western European airline to re-establish such a route since 2014. Despite ongoing political instability in Libya, a 2020 ceasefire has facilitated the return of some airlines.

According to Airbus, ITA Airways took delivery of its first Airbus A330-900 in May 2023, enhancing its long-haul capabilities. The A330neo features a three-class cabin layout with 30 business class seats, 24 premium economy seats, and 237 economy seats. This addition aligns with ITA Airways' strategy to modernize its fleet and expand its intercontinental network.

As detailed on ITA Airways' official website, the airline is Italy's national carrier, co-owned by the Ministry of Economy and Finance (59%) and Deutsche Lufthansa AG (41%). Operating a fleet of 99 aircraft, over 60% of which are next-generation models, ITA Airways emphasizes environmental sustainability by aiming to upgrade 90% of its fleet to next-generation aircraft, reducing fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions. The airline offers passenger and cargo services, ensuring high-quality connections both internationally and within Italy.
