Delta Air Lines is adjusting its service between Atlanta and Anchorage, extending flights beyond the summer travel season to a year-round offering. Traditionally, Delta operated the longest Boeing 757-200 route between Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport and Ted Stevens International Airport in Anchorage as a seasonal service, mainly catering to vacationers during the summer. Historically, Delta had opted not to serve this route in the colder months due to limited demand.

The carrier has announced it will now operate this route using widebody Boeing 767-300ER aircraft during peak summer months, offering more passenger capacity compared to the Boeing 757-200. Beginning May 22, Delta will resume nonstop flights between these destinations daily, maintaining this schedule throughout the summer. In July, Delta will conduct 30 flights, offering more seats than previously available with the Boeing 757-200.

The service will see a change in September, with the widebody aircraft operating through the first week before switching back to the Boeing 757-200 on September 13. Post this date, flights will operate weekly, with increased frequency during peak holiday periods.

This change signals Delta’s confidence in rising travel demand to Alaska from the American Southeast, despite the aircraft's potential use on transatlantic routes, where travel could decline due to economic factors.
