Delta Air Lines recently hosted Nigerian journalist Wole Shadare and others at their headquarters in Atlanta. The journalists, flown in with full expenses covered by Delta, received an introduction to the airline's operations and experiences in their Delta One cabin, featuring VIP Select service.

Mary Gbobaniyi, Delta's Sales Manager, welcomed the group at the airport lounge, where they gathered before embarking on the familiarization program. This included notable Nigerian media personalities like Tunji Abioye of Punch Newspapers, Kachi Offiah from Arise TV, and influencers Sassy Funke and Fisayo Fosudo.

The journalists experienced Delta's premium Business Class cabin and its in-flight dining, which features seasonal offerings, including traditional Nigerian dishes. One highlighted dish was Ewa Agoyin, a Nigerian classic that according to Gbobaniyi, is a customer favorite.

At Delta's headquarters, the group toured the Delta Flight Museum, observing artifacts from the company's history, including a personal photo related to the company’s participation in transporting Nigeria’s national soccer team in 2016. Then, they interacted with officials from various departments, including corporate communications, maintenance, and marketing operations.

The visitors met with Julian Ugochukwu Anugom, the Nigerian Director of In-Flight Entertainment and Connectivity, who shared insights into Delta's significant investment into the IFEC system. Anugom emphasized Delta's large fleet of in-flight screens.

At Delta's Technical Operations facility, participants learned about the airline's maintenance capabilities and its role as a global maintenance provider. The facility is one of the world's largest, and its history was highlighted by the slogan “No Job Too Hard” from 1929.

An exciting component of the visit was the flight simulator experience, with Bryan McMillon, Program Manager for Flight Operations, leading sessions that simulated real-world conditions.

Reflecting on the experience, Shadare called it an enlightening insight into an airline known for service excellence. He notes Delta’s commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction as bolstering its reputation as a leading global airline.
