Airbus delivered 69 commercial aircraft in March 2025, reaching a quarterly total of 132 aircraft. This represents a slight decline compared to the first quarter of 2024. Boeing, by comparison, had a total of 130 deliveries for the quarter, having delivered 41 aircraft in March.

"Neither Airbus nor Boeing have published official March figures," but aviation analytics company Cirium estimates that Airbus’ deliveries included 33 A321s, 18 A320s, 10 A220s, six A350-900s, and two A330-900s. This marks a 9.5% increase in March deliveries year-on-year. If confirmed, Airbus’ first-quarter deliveries would show a 7% decrease from the same period in the previous year. Historically, Airbus achieves 20% of its annual deliveries in the first quarter, and current results would set it on a trajectory for 660 aircraft, below the 820 target.

Airbus mentioned its deliveries were affected by slow engine deliveries, notably the CFM Leap engines for A320 family aircraft. Cirium's analysis shows that 43 A320 family aircraft are assembled but awaiting engines, while over 70 have advanced past the final assembly stage but have not flown. Cirium anticipates that 43 of these will require Leap engines.

For 2024, Airbus delivered 766 commercial aircraft worldwide. This year, January saw 25 deliveries and February 40, but March's increased activity, including 53 first flights, suggests the potential for growth in the second quarter. Airbus disclosed its annual target of 820 aircraft in February 2025, hinting that slow progress so far might have been anticipated.

Boeing's March deliveries reportedly included 33 737 MAXs, four 787s, and four 777-200LRFs. Cirium projects an annual total of 530 deliveries, despite Boeing not revealing its target, which Cirium estimates at 610. Boeing seeks to increase 737 production with indications of improvement, seeing 27 first flights in March.

Boeing's monthly delivery increase was affected by inventory aircraft that had flown 90 days prior, which accounted for nearly 25% of 737 MAX deliveries. Boeing still has 34 737-8s in inventory, indicating possible 2025 deliveries.

Comparatively, Boeing delivered 348 commercial jets in 2024. The reported figures for March imply that the manufacturer’s deliveries have increased by 63% year-on-year. Boeing could see additional deliveries of the 737 MAX 7 and backlog deliveries of the 787, though some were postponed due to seating supply issues.
