In the early hours of March 30, Vietjet's operations team was active at Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport, preparing two relief flights, VJ2875 and VJ2877. These Airbus aircraft, an A330 and an A321, were deployed to Myanmar to support rescue teams amidst a recent earthquake disaster.

As the news of a 7.7-magnitude earthquake spread, Vietjet’s crisis response teams acted swiftly. They coordinated with the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of National Defense to secure flight permits and gather flight crews and necessary technical support quickly.

Behind the scenes, the operations involved thorough safety checks by engineers. Over 60 tons of medical and food supplies were loaded by ground staff, while logistics teams ensured diplomatic clearances for a seamless entry into Myanmar. The flight crews, skilled in high-stakes missions, prepared for a challenging deployment.

At the departure gate, a sense of purpose was evident as 106 personnel, including police officers, military, and rescue experts, boarded the planes. Many had served in similar missions before, recognizing the gravity of their task to offer urgent assistance.

Vietjet CEO Dinh Viet Phuong stated, “Vietjet is always ready for special missions.” He acknowledged the urgency, emphasizing, “The people of Myanmar need immediate support, and we are honored to be part of this humanitarian effort.”

Upon arrival at Yangon Airport, rescue teams and Vietjet’s ground crew quickly unloaded supplies, coordinating their transportation to affected areas. The mission aimed to clear debris, provide medical aid, and search for survivors, highlighting Vietjet's ongoing commitment to humanitarian efforts.

This effort continues Vietjet’s history of disaster relief, with prior involvements in crises like Indonesia’s 2018 earthquake and tsunami, along with pandemic responses.
