FedEx has inaugurated a new logistics facility in Amsterdam, aiming to bolster its supply chain capabilities in the Netherlands. The facility, strategically located near Schiphol Airport and integrated with the FedEx European Road network through its hub in Duiven, provides direct connections to 45 markets across Europe.

The new location doubles the previous warehouse space to 16,000 square meters. It features enhanced sorting technologies that increase capacity to 4,500 packages per hour, with the ability to automatically detect customs clearance for shipments. The site allows packages to be loaded into over 100 vehicles, reducing processing times. Additional benefits include improved customer cut-off times and a designated area for package pick-up.

FedEx has focused on employee comfort by creating ergonomic workspaces, improved climate control, and optimal lighting. Safety is emphasized with weekly training and visual support. Marius Penninks, Vice President Network Operations at FedEx Europe, stated, “Our new Amsterdam facility is a crucial part of our first and last mile optimisation strategy for the Netherlands, and enables us to provide an even better service to our customers.” He added, “We are also extremely proud that this new facility truly represents FedEx. Here, all our colleagues can work comfortably and safely, while customers enjoy a smoother experience when picking up or dropping off packages.”

The facility includes 20 charging stations for electric vehicles, aligning with FedEx’s commitment to carbon-neutral operations by 2040, and plans are in place to increase this capacity.
