Air India has announced the resumption of its operations from Bangkok, maintaining its schedule following a devastating earthquake that resulted in significant loss of life. The announcement was made on the social media platform X on March 28.

According to Reuters, a powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 struck Myanmar on March 28, 2025. The tremors were felt as far away as Bangkok, Thailand, causing substantial structural damage. A high-rise building under construction in Bangkok collapsed, leading to multiple fatalities and injuries. In response, authorities in Bangkok declared an emergency zone in the affected areas to manage the crisis and coordinate rescue efforts.

The Times of India reported that despite the earthquake's impact, all airports in Bangkok remained operational. The Tourism Authority of Thailand confirmed that flight services continued without major disruptions, allowing travelers to proceed with their plans. This operational continuity was vital for facilitating aid movement and maintaining economic stability in the region.

Air India's official statement on X emphasized that the airline maintained its flight schedules from Bangkok without interruption following the earthquake. This decision highlighted Air India's commitment to passenger safety and service reliability during unforeseen events. The airline's proactive communication aimed to reassure travelers and minimize potential concerns regarding flight operations.

As detailed in Air India's press release, the airline has been expanding its international operations, including routes to Southeast Asia. The deployment of retrofitted A320neo aircraft on flights between Delhi and Bangkok from January 16, 2025, reflects Air India's focus on enhancing passenger experience with upgraded cabins and in-flight entertainment options. This strategic expansion aligns with the airline's broader goal of strengthening its presence in key international markets.
