easyJet has recently launched direct flights from the United Kingdom to two new destinations, Tbilisi, Georgia, and Sal, Cape Verde. The first flight to Tbilisi International Airport (TBS) took off from London Luton Airport (LTN) on April 3, marking the airline's new route to the capital of Georgia. This new service, timed for summer, is available on Tuesdays and Saturdays and adds to existing flights from Geneva and Milan to Tbilisi.

Ali Gayward, UK Country Manager of easyJet, commented, "The airline is pleased to provide this unique connection to Tbilisi this summer, providing even more choice for customers flying from London-Luton." The company further stated that over 7 million passengers depart from London-Luton each year, traveling to 74 destinations.

On the same day as easyJet's launch, British Airways resumed flights to Tbilisi from London Heathrow Airport (LHR). This route was previously discontinued in 2013. The resumption coincided with other relaunches after resolving issues with British Airways' Boeing 787 aircraft. British Airways will run four weekly services, continuing through winter.

The introduction of these services comes amid political tensions in Georgia. The government under the pro-Russian Georgian Dream party is facing protests advocating closer ties with the European Union, reported Civil Georgia.

Additionally, easyJet has introduced a new route from London Gatwick Airport (LGW) to Amilcar Cabral International Airport (SID) in Sal, Cape Verde. This is easyJet’s first service from the UK to sub-Saharan Africa. The airline plans to operate these flights alongside services from Lisbon and Porto.

Paul Bixby, easyJet's Chief Commercial Officer, highlighted the appeal of Cape Verde: "Cape Verde is a fantastic destination with year-round sunshine," offering numerous options for package holidays.

In conjunction with easyJet's new flights, TUI also schedules frequent flights to Cape Verde, with a total of 29 weekly UK departures in April, including six weekly flights from London-Gatwick to Sal shared by easyJet and TUI.
