Delta Air Lines has achieved the highest on-time performance among North American airlines for 2024, according to aviation analytics company Cirium. The airline operated 1,712,529 flights with 83.46% of those arriving within 15 minutes of their scheduled time of arrival.

The commitment of Delta's employees led to the airline receiving Cirium's Platinum Award for Operational Excellence. John Laughter, Executive Vice President and Chief of Operations at Delta, expressed pride in the recognition, stating, "It’s an honor to have Cirium once again recognize the hard work and operational excellence of Delta people. Safe, consistent operational excellence is the bedrock of Delta’s growth and the core promise of our 100-year brand."

Delta operates over 5,000 flights daily and has been acknowledged by Mike Malik, Cirium's Chief Marketing Officer, for its investments and operational benchmark. Malik commented, "With its continued investments in people, processes, and technology, Delta Air Lines is once again setting the benchmark for what operational excellence can look like in the airline industry, inspiring others with its enduring commitment to delivering a world-class travel experience."

Delta Air Lines, founded in 1925, is one of the oldest carriers, and its fleet includes nearly 1,000 aircraft, with various models from Airbus and Boeing. The airline will celebrate its 100th anniversary this year and has unveiled a special livery to mark the occasion.

Cirium's 2024 report also ranks the top five North American airlines by punctuality. Following Delta, United Airlines, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, and Southwest Airlines fill the list. Southwest had the highest completion rate, according to Jeremy Bowen, Cirium's CEO, who noted, "In an industry defined by operational complexity, we are extremely proud to be celebrating the airlines and airports who have provided customers the most on-time flights and best performance in 2024."

On a global scale, Aeromexico was the most punctual, followed by Saudia, while Delta Air Lines ranked third. The report also highlighted the most punctual airports, with Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport leading the list.

Aeromexico, located at Mexico City Benito Juárez International Airport, maintained its position for on-time performance, connecting Mexico with several global destinations. Coupled with the airline's robust fleet of more than 120 Boeing aircraft, it remains one of the largest carriers in Latin America.

Riyadh King Khalid International Airport emerged as the airport with the most punctual operation, serving numerous routes and airlines. It is preparing to onboard a new carrier, Riyadh Air, which has faced delays but expects to commence operations soon.
