Private jets range in size and capability, from small aircraft like the Cirrus SF50 Vision Jet, known for its limited capacity, to heavy jets designed for ultra-long-haul flights. Midsize jets provide more passenger space, with some accommodating up to ten people and offering transcontinental and even intercontinental travel capabilities. However, they do not match the luxury of heavy jets, which can carry over a dozen passengers and feature amenities like multiple cabin spaces and private cabins.
Heavy jets, distinct for their high capacity, can accommodate between 12 and 19 passengers, often serving corporate groups or individuals with large entourages. These jets are notable for their long-range capabilities, often exceeding 6,500 nautical miles, allowing them to reach global destinations with only one stop. They are priced at a median of approximately $60 million.
French manufacturer Dassault is a significant player in the heavy jet market. Known for the Dassault Mercure and fighter jets like the Dassault Rafale, Dassault has expanded its private jet offerings with models like the Falcon 7X and Falcon 8X. The Falcon 7X, with a range exceeding 6,800 miles, was first revealed in 2001. The Falcon 8X, launched in 2016, built on the 7X's design to offer over 7,400 miles of range.
