Hainan Airlines has announced the successful launch of its new Haikou–Osaka route, which connects China and Japan. The announcement was made on the social media platform X on April 1.

According to PR Newswire, Hainan Airlines launched a non-stop service between Haikou and Osaka on February 28, 2019. This initiative aims to promote tourism and strengthen Sino-Japanese trade and cultural exchanges. It aligns with China's strategy to expand international routes from Hainan to major global tourist destinations. The airline has also expanded its international network from Haikou by adding routes to Rome, Singapore, Sydney, Melbourne, and Taipei.

As reported by AeroRoutes, Hainan Airlines plans to resume the Haikou–Osaka Kansai service on April 1, 2025. The service will operate three times weekly. The flight schedule includes HU771 departing Haikou at 08:05 and arriving in Osaka at 13:25, with the return flight HU772 departing Osaka at 14:30 and arriving in Haikou at 18:20. This resumption marks the reinstatement of the route last served until January 2020.

According to FlightGlobal, Hainan Airlines plans to launch over 40 international routes from Hainan over five years. This follows China's policy to develop the island as a free trade port. The strategic expansion aims to position Hainan as a significant regional hub by enhancing connectivity with major global destinations. The Haikou–Osaka route is part of this broader initiative to increase international presence.

Hainan Airlines is headquartered in Haikou, Hainan, China. It is the largest civilian-run and majority state-owned air transport company in China. Established in October 1989, it operates scheduled domestic and international services on 500 routes from Hainan and nine mainland locations. The airline's main base is Haikou Meilan International Airport, with hubs at Beijing Capital International Airport and Xi'an Xianyang International Airport.
